We are currently in search of a qualified Heavy Equipment Mechanic to enhance our successful geotechnical construction division. Keller is recognized as one of the largest geotechnical construction firms in the country, offering competitive compensation and ample opportunities for professional advancement.

Applicants should possess documentation indicating at least two years of experience in the repair and maintenance of trucks, trailers, and heavy diesel machinery. A high school diploma or equivalent training is required, along with the ability to efficiently conduct electrical and hydraulic diagnostics. Candidates must also pass a DOT pre-employment drug screening. We value self-motivated individuals who demonstrate meticulous attention to detail. While ASE Certification and basic computer skills for service reporting are advantageous, they are not mandatory. Additionally, candidates must have all necessary Class I Mechanic hand tools.



Responsibilities

More experienced candidates will have familiarity with heavy drill rigs (such as Klemm, SoilMec, or Watson) utilized in geotechnical construction, as well as concrete pumps, air compressors, generators, and other heavy diesel equipment. Proficiency in the safe operation of basic heavy machinery, including forklifts, wheeled front-end loaders, and excavators, is a plus, along with holding a valid CDL license.

This position is primarily shop-based and reports to a Shop Supervisor and/or an onsite Project Superintendent.

In addition to the aforementioned responsibilities, candidates will be expected to perform basic labor tasks when not engaged in typical mechanic duties. These labor tasks may involve significant physical activity.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must possess the following:

  • Hands-on mechanical experience
  • A minimum of 10 years in Heavy Equipment Repairs
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to travel
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Expertise in electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read and navigate electric and hydraulic schematics
  • Understanding of pilot system circuits
  • Knowledge of E-Stop systems
  • Experience in machine maintenance
  • Familiarity with operating controls and functions
  • Capability to work collaboratively in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform physical labor and strenuous tasks, including frequent bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Comfort in outdoor settings with varying weather conditions
  • Ability to work in confined and cluttered spaces
  • Capacity to climb and maintain balance on uneven surfaces
  • Prior OSHA, First Aid, and/or Safety Training is preferred
  • Specific experience with equipment typically used in geotechnical construction is advantageous

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work safely and efficiently at all times, be drug-free, possess reliable transportation to and from the job site, have valid identification, and be eligible to work in the United States as verified through E-Verify. Occasional out-of-town/state travel may be required. The average pay rate is $30-35 per hour, with actual compensation based on experience.
