Firefighter Trainee

The City of Corvallis is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our Fire Department as a Firefighter Trainee. This is a 2-year apprenticeship program that provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in firefighting, emergency medical services, and fire prevention.

• Respond to emergency calls and participate in fire suppression, rescue, and medical emergency activities.
• Operate firefighting and emergency vehicles, as well as specialized technical equipment.
• Perform fire suppression, hazardous material recognition, and emergency medical duties.
• Assist with preparation of pre-hospital care and case documentation.
• Maintain required records and reports.
• Clean, maintain, and inspect fire and EMS equipment, apparatus, and fire hydrants.
• Participate in training and pre-fire planning activities.
• Provide public education and non-emergency public services.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Oregon State Police Criminal Justice Information Systems clearance.
• Valid Oregon driver's license with a minimum of 3 years licensed driving experience.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of duties in accordance with NFPA Standard 1582.
• Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and sustainability.
