The Ground Service Equipment Technician is tasked with executing preventative maintenance and conducting both major and minor repairs on various types of ground support machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on all company ground support equipment.
  2. Perform intricate repairs on vehicles, addressing both electrical and mechanical issues.
  3. Service and maintain fuel farm machinery.
  4. Execute diagnostic assessments (including electrical diagnostics) on vehicles and equipment to identify repair needs.
  5. Manage the ordering, receiving, and inventorying of parts and supplies.
  6. Maintain detailed maintenance records for all equipment and communicate any significant maintenance needs to management, as well as liaise with contract maintenance personnel as necessary.
  7. Support line service technicians on the ramp as required.

Essential Competencies

  1. Ability to interpret both printed and digital maintenance manuals.
  2. Familiarity with various maintenance tools, including jacks, overhead cranes, hoists, and other necessary equipment.
  3. Proficient writing skills to complete required forms and documentation.
  4. Strong computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
  5. Basic mathematical skills.

Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the General Manager.

Work Environment
This role involves outdoor work in various weather conditions and direct interaction with both moving and stationary aircraft. The position may involve exposure to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and machinery.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, including but not limited to:

  1. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and/or more than 50 pounds frequently.
  2. Potential exposure to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and machinery.
  3. Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  4. Physical activities required include bending, lifting, walking, stooping, squatting, gripping, and climbing ladders.

Position Type and Work Hours
This is a non-exempt position that includes shift work, requiring availability for evenings, weekends, and scheduled company holidays.

Travel Requirements
No travel is anticipated for this role.

Qualifications

  1. A minimum of four (4) years of hands-on experience as a vehicle technician.
  2. ASE certification is preferred.
  3. Two (2) years of technical training in ground service equipment maintenance is preferred.
  4. Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  5. Must possess an acceptable driving record.
  6. Ability to pass a background check.
  7. Zero tolerance drug-free workplace, including pre-employment and random screenings.
