The Paper Store is a premier destination for gift-giving needs. We share our passion with customers, exceeding their expectations in selection and service.

We seek a District Manager to supervise store operations in the Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts market. This role requires financial acumen, leadership skills, and a strong understanding of company policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Regional Manager and be responsible for supervising and coordinating all aspects of store operations. Key responsibilities include recruiting and hiring talent, motivating store managers and teams, assessing and developing Store Managers' skills, and promoting a positive work environment.

This position serves as the primary link between the home office and individual stores. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable of all store operations, company policies, procedures, and standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a TPS brand ambassador
  • Financial:
    1. Inspire and motivate store teams to achieve results
    2. Ensure store teams are focused on the customer, utilizing all sales programs
    3. Meet or exceed sales targets, including plan, comp and other key performance indicators (KPIs)
    4. Continuously assess business and create action plans to improve sales
    5. Monitor and manage expenses to achieve district and store profitability, including payroll and other store expenses
  • People:
    1. Recruit, hire, train and retain diversified candidates for all management positions
    2. Actively manage succession planning to identify internal and external talent; fill all positions promptly
    3. Evaluate skills of store managers and initiate on-going development for team through the use of available tools and programs
    4. Manage and resolve employee relation issues according to company expectations and standards
    5. Successfully partner with peers and supervisor to share best practices and achieve exceptional results; build effective relationships with landlords/mall representatives and home office partners to educate them on the needs of their business and to build mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Store Operations:
    1. Meets all deadlines; follow up with management teams to meet deadlines and to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
    2. Conduct a minimum of 1 monthly store visit and DM/GUEST Checklist. Manage results based on company expectations. Take appropriate partners as necessary.
    3. Ensure store teams follow all Loss Prevention policies and practices
    4. Ensure merchandise presentations are consistent with company standards
    5. Successfully roll-out and embrace all company initiatives
  • Communication:
    1. Listen effectively

    3. Utilize all modes of communication (written, verbal, and non-verbal) to effectively ensure understanding
