S&ME is in search of a committed and enthusiastic full-time Senior Accountant to become part of our Corporate Finance team at our Headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina. Role Overview:

The Senior Accountant position is tailored for a skilled individual responsible for overseeing a variety of accounting tasks in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), including:

General Accounting: Conducting account reconciliations, preparing journal entries, managing general ledger accruals, and supervising period-end and month-end closing activities. Financial Reporting & Analysis: Preparing financial statements, offering technical guidance during annual budget preparation, and contributing to financial reporting, analysis, and forecasting. Tax & Compliance: Managing local tax submissions, filing sales and use tax returns, preparing annual property tax documents, and ensuring compliance for ESOP and 401k plans at year-end. Asset & Cash Management: Overseeing fixed assets and lease schedules, performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, monitoring cash flow, and maintaining stock schedules. Budgeting & Strategic Planning: Assisting in the annual budgeting process, evaluating potential acquisitions, and providing financial support and training to team members. Audit & Process Improvement: Supporting audits, enhancing processes and internal controls, and developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures. Leadership & Communication: Preparing materials for board meetings, addressing discrepancies with senior management, and driving results to align with the company's strategic objectives.

Candidate Profile:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Minimum of 5 years of experience in General Ledger Strong knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial software applications
