**Job Title:** Patient Care Technician
**Estimated Salary Range:** $45,000 - $65,000 per year
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. As a Patient Care Technician, you will be an integral part of our patient-centered care team, providing direct patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or medical staff/providers. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal hygiene, collecting specimens, performing venipuncture/phlebotomy, and documenting patient information in the health record.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with ADLs and personal hygiene, including bathing, mouth care, dressing, skin care, positioning, feeding, ambulation, toileting, and range of motion activities.
- Collect specimens; perform venipuncture/phlebotomy; obtain EKGs; apply electrodes and initiate physiologic monitoring equipment; and insert intravenous (IV) catheters, changes of IV sites and dressings, and routine inspection of IV sites.
- Accurately take and record patient's vital signs, height and weight, pulse oximetry, point of care and waived testing and other pertinent information in the patient's health record.
- Maintain the comfort, confidentiality, and dignity of each patient.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you must have a High School Diploma or GED, completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program and active CNA certification, or completion of a national Registered Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic program/course with at least six months or more experience as an EMT, CCT, or EMTP. Additionally, you must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
