Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of buildings, electrical systems, plumbing, and mechanical installations at various job sites.
  • Review and approve building plans for new constructions, renovations, and alterations, ensuring adherence to state and local regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports, case files, and documentation related to inspections and compliance.
  • Coordinate with property owners, contractors, and other city departments to address inquiries and provide guidance on code compliance.
  • Monitor active projects, schedule inspections, and enforce safety regulations as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant inspections or construction experience.
  • Ability to obtain a valid North Carolina Class C Driver's license within 60 days of hire.
  • Must achieve Probationary Certification within one year of employment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with the North Carolina Building Code and construction standards.
  • Experience in building construction, design, or inspections.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
