Position Overview:

The role of the Transplant Nutrition Specialist is to enhance the nutrition care process, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of medical nutrition therapy tailored to their unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and document comprehensive nutrition assessments.
  • Formulate and record nutrition diagnoses.
  • Identify and execute suitable nutrition interventions, providing quality nutrition education that aligns with patient needs, expectations, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Monitor and assess individual nutrition outcomes in relation to established nutrition diagnoses, goals, and interventions.
  • Effectively communicate nutrition expertise with relevant healthcare professionals.
  • Utilize resources efficiently and effectively in practice.
  • Guide and mentor students in the field.
  • Engage in departmental continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with fellow dietitians as necessary.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) program.
  • Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration or eligible for registration.
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications.
  • Certification as a Dietitian in the state of Utah or willingness to obtain within six months.
  • Food Handler's Permit required for those involved in food handling duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of experience as a registered dietitian.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Certification in Nutrition Support (CNSC) is highly preferred.
  • Experience in ICU and critical care settings is advantageous.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Proficient in operating computers and related equipment.
  • Capability to see and read information on computer screens and documents.
  • Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods while performing job duties.
