About the Organization


The Merced County Office of Education plays a vital role in supporting the educational framework of Merced County's 20 school districts. This includes oversight and assistance in curriculum development, alternative education, business services, early childhood education, technology integration, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing.

Led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education, MCOE serves as a central hub for fostering partnerships among local schools, government entities, and community organizations.

In addition to its educational responsibilities, MCOE oversees the fiscal management of each district, addresses appeals for student expulsion hearings, and manages the Green Meadows Outdoor School.


Position Overview


Under the guidance of the designated Coordinator, the individual in this role will be tasked with instructing students enrolled in the Medical Assistant program.

The instructor will be responsible for creating and maintaining a secure and productive classroom environment, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of the medical assisting curriculum.

This position is part of the certificated bargaining unit and adheres to the stipulations outlined in the union agreement.

Qualifications and Requirements

* Copies of California credentials authorizing service in relevant areas, if applicable
* Optional: Three current letters of recommendation (dated within the last 18 months and signed by the author)

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Training:
High school diploma or recognized equivalent

Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Registered Nurse, Certified Medical Assistant, or Licensed Vocational Nurse.

Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in the technical skills to be taught is required.

At least one (1) of the three (3) years of required experience must have occurred within the last five (5) years, or two (2) years within the last ten (10) years.



Credentials and Skills:
Successful completion of a proficiency test is mandatory. Candidates must hold or qualify for a valid California Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Credential for the subject area being taught. Skills pertinent to the clinical aspects of the Medical Assisting field are essential.

Additional competencies include effective planning, development, and implementation of curriculum related to medical assisting, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a solid understanding of medical office practices and procedures, including relevant computer operations and software.

A valid California driver's license and the minimum required liability insurance by law are also necessary. A DMV driver's printout will be required.

Selection Process:
Applications will be evaluated for compliance with minimum qualifications. A maximum of eight candidates will be invited for a panel interview. All applicants will receive notification via email following the final selection process.

Additional Information

***Verification of work experience will be necessary when applying for the appropriate credential.

Verification entails confirmation of qualifying experience through an original letter, signed by past and/or present employers on company letterhead, which includes all of the following:
1) Employer's name, address, and telephone number;
2) Start and end dates of employment;
3) Comprehensive description of duties;
4) A statement regarding whether the employment was full-time. If part-time, the statement must include the total hours worked by the applicant
5) The working relationship of the person signing the verification to the applicant.

Letters must include all of the above information.

Information for Self-Employed Individuals:

For self-employed applicants, or those with vocational experience, written verification must be provided by the applicant, signed under penalty of perjury, detailing the information described in 1) through 4) above, and must be further substantiated in writing by individuals with first-hand knowledge of the applicant's self-employment or avocation, such as the applicant's accountant, major supplier of goods, or primary user of goods or services.


Prior to employment, candidates will be required to provide proof of U.S. citizenship or other documents establishing eligibility for employment in the U.S.
