Job Title: OSP Project Manager

This is a challenging role that requires a strong background in fiber network engineering and project management. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing multiple fiber network construction projects, ensuring timely completion and budget adherence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and manage OSP engineering/construction firms, including bid/vendor selection and contract negotiation
  • Develop high-level engineering designs and build cost estimates for new projects
  • Perform tactical project management, including managing project schedules and running regular project calls with contractors
  • Develop and maintain accurate project budget forecasts
  • Manage materials forecast and inventory, including fiber, conduit, and optics components
  • Perform site walks with customers and vendors, and work with local/state/federal permitting agencies to secure timely permit approvals
  • Document splicing requirements and maintain fiber engineering documentation
  • Specify and procure optics components for contractor installation
  • Maintain up-to-date network maps in Vero's proprietary geospatial project management platform
  • Provide accurate network maps to state 811 agencies and Vero Networks NOC
  • Manage network maintenance and relocation projects, including emergency maintenance
Requirements:
  • 4+ years' experience in fiber network engineering or OSP project management
  • Thorough understanding of utility engineering, permitting, and construction process
  • Ability to develop detailed project schedules and manage work activities to ensure timely completion
  • Strong planning skills, including ability to anticipate and mitigate project risk
  • Construction cost estimating and budget management experience
  • Thorough understanding of fiber network cost structure and ability to identify and achieve cost savings during project execution
  • Understanding of fiber engineering and documentation standards and principles
  • BS degree or Project Management certificate preferred
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong communications and vendor management skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to develop detailed project schedules and manage work activities to ensure timely completion
  • Strong background in Microsoft Office365 (especially Excel), Google Maps, Google Earth
  • GIS Mapping and data manipulation experience preferred (QGIS, ArcGIS, etc.)
