Job Summary

SAIC is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support a fast-paced project in our Middletown, RI office. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative team working on the design, development, and testing of electrical systems for naval applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems for embedded underwater applications, custom data acquisition systems, and automated test hardware for land-based testing of naval systems.
  • Develop and execute test plans for new designs and document results.
  • Design and document systems and circuits in OrCAD, Eagle, Visio, Altium, or PADS.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, logisticians, technicians, and draftsmen to ensure design meets requirements.
  • Troubleshoot large-scale systems and individual system components.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and two (2) years or more experience.
  • Experience in engineering design, analysis, and testing.
  • Electronic design in the area of test equipment, power electronics, amplifiers, filtering, signal conditioning, and/or high-speed digital.
  • Schematic entry in a schematic capture software.
  • Ability to read and understand basic electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting using test equipment to help isolate problems and generate solutions.
Clearance

Must be able to initially obtain an Interim Secret Clearance and then obtain and hold an Active Secret Clearance for the duration of work on the contract.

Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to interact directly with customers to extract requirements, generate a plan, and report status.
  • PCB design with Mentor Graphics PADS Layout, Cadence OrCAD PCB Designer, Altium, or Eagle.
  • Experience with MATLAB, data manipulation, processing, and visualization.
  • FPGA experience using Vivado for Xilinx hardware (FPGAs, SOCs, MPSOCs etc.) or Quartus for Intel products in Verilog and VHDL.
  • Developing and executing test plans for electronic subsystems.
  • Experience with soldering and debugging circuits as well as basic use with mechanical tools.
  • Hands-on lab experience using oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, impedance analyzer, HI-POT testers, etc.
  • Familiarity with System Engineering concepts.
  • Experience with marine hardware including ROVs, UUVs, sonar, arrays, and transducers.
  • Familiarity with National Instruments products including PXI, LabView, or CVI.
