HNTB is seeking a highly skilled Rail Transit Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Transit and Rail Department, you will play a pivotal role in the design and planning of railway tracks, leading the track design of major projects and guiding junior engineers through the final design stages.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and modify design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects.
  • Work closely with project managers to perform research, development, calculations, design, and delivery.
  • Apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity.
  • Leverage technical knowledge, experience, and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs.
  • Lead the track design of major projects and guide junior engineers through the final design stages.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to provide mentorship to junior team members.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or
  • PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Track and/or Rail experience
  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Sound Transit or similar light rail transit agency experience
