Key Responsibilities
HNTB is seeking a highly skilled Rail Transit Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Transit and Rail Department, you will play a pivotal role in the design and planning of railway tracks, leading the track design of major projects and guiding junior engineers through the final design stages.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop and modify design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects.
- Work closely with project managers to perform research, development, calculations, design, and delivery.
- Apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity.
- Leverage technical knowledge, experience, and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs.
- Lead the track design of major projects and guide junior engineers through the final design stages.
- Demonstrate technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to provide mentorship to junior team members.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or
- PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Track and/or Rail experience
- Master's degree in Engineering
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- Sound Transit or similar light rail transit agency experience
