Position Overview

The Principal Consultant will act as the project manager for complex assignments within their designated region. This role requires adherence to all company policies and procedures while ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and actively pursuing new business opportunities. The Principal Consultant will address client concerns promptly and effectively, working with minimal supervision and demonstrating initiative and independent judgment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design and restoration of facades, roofs, and waterproofing systems, including field inspections and documentation of ongoing restoration efforts.
  • Foster a positive and professional work environment through exemplary leadership.
  • Complete assignments within the Principal Consultant's area of expertise.
  • Assist in drafting proposals and defining project scopes.
  • Ensure that all deliverables, including reports and proposals, meet Rimkus standards for accuracy and professionalism.
  • Possess extensive knowledge, training, and experience, which are essential characteristics of a Principal Consultant.
  • Operate with minimal oversight, leveraging an established client base and proficiency in business development.
  • Guide less experienced staff in a supportive capacity, though not directly responsible for their training or success.
  • Engage in marketing initiatives to enhance the practice area and cultivate relationships with current and prospective clients.
  • Review draft invoices prior to final submission.
  • Address client issues swiftly and satisfactorily.
  • Ensure deliverables adhere to our commitment of a 2-day turnaround.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Certification Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture, or a related technical field is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in building envelope restoration, consulting, and forensic analysis.
  • Professional licensure and/or certification is required, or supplemented by additional years of relevant experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in inspecting and documenting existing facades, roofs, and waterproofing systems.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and the ability to manage confidential information.
  • Exhibits strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel Requirements

Physical Demands: This role requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, bending, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing, and driving to various job sites. The ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds is necessary, along with clear vision and depth perception.

Employees must maintain focus and alertness while performing duties, interacting with clients, preparing reports, and testifying in legal proceedings. This includes possessing the mental acuity and concentration necessary to perform job responsibilities effectively, with minimal distractions.

Overtime: This position is classified as salaried and exempt from FLSA regulations. Regular working hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch break. Overtime may be required to meet job demands.

Travel Requirements: This position may require up to 25% travel, including occasional out-of-area and overnight trips.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $140,000, depending on education, experience, location, and certifications/licensure.
