Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Yard Driver to join our team at Performance Food Group. As a Yard Driver, you will play a critical role in the operation of our business by transporting tractor trailers on our property, including loading docks and designated parking areas, and to offsite maintenance or inspection facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Move tractor trailers to/from loading docks and park loaded or empty trailers in designated areas in a safe and timely manner, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and coworkers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform inspections and move trailers safely, following all DOT regulations and company safe-driving policies.
  • Fuel, move, and park tractors and trailers to the docks.
  • Transport tractor trailers to offsite maintenance and/or inspection facilities, requiring local city driving.
  • Secure trucks, trailers, and equipment at all times and complete all required documentation.
Requirements
  • CDL-A Required
  • 6+ months driving experience (internal candidates may be promoted with less than 6 months experience with good performance record)
  • Ability to work the scheduled, assigned times and required overtime for the position
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • 1+ years Foodservice distribution industry experience
  • Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e., PeopleNet)
