Transportation Planner Associate

About the Position

The Rogue Valley Council of Governments is seeking a full-time Associate Transportation Planner to provide transportation planning services to member jurisdictions and the region's two MPOs. Key responsibilities include assisting with public meetings, supporting public involvement activities, and completing assigned tasks, such as updating regional transportation plans, evaluating technical impacts of transportation programs and projects, and assisting member jurisdictions with transportation planning issues, plans, and projects.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a fundamental understanding of local government operations and applicable state and federal planning practices, procedures, and regulations. Demonstrable skills include gathering, organizing, and analyzing data and information; intermediate skill with GIS software (ESRIs ArcPro); and effectively utilizing modern computer applications, including Microsoft Office and WordPress or similar website development and maintenance software. Additionally, working effectively as a team member and establishing and maintaining harmonious and cooperative working relationships with staff and a wide variety of people is required.

Benefits

Upon hire or first of month following date of hire, employees are eligible for eleven paid holidays per year, up to 96 hours of paid vacation per year, up to 96 hours of paid sick leave per year, employer-paid medical/dental/vision insurance, employee assistance program, optional flexible spending account, and employer-paid retirement plan contributions equivalent to 13.02% of monthly salary (Non-PERS). After a six-month probationary period, employees are eligible for employer-paid HRA contributions of $83 per individual or $125 per family per month, employer-paid life and long-term disability insurance, optional 457(b) retirement plan (Roth or Traditional), and special eligibility periods for employer-paid Mercy Flights memberships and optional supplemental insurance.

Medford, with a population of almost 85,000, is the largest city in Southern Oregon and Northern California and serves as a regional center for health care, services, and transportation. Nearby Ashland is home to Southern Oregon University and the Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and to the northwest is Grants Pass, famous for its downtown historic district and whitewater rafting on the world-famous Wild and Scenic Rogue River.
