Shift Details: This position is specifically for the 2nd shift.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate various machines and equipment to process components and assemblies.
  • Conduct boring operations on both Hi and Low bay Commutators.
  • Perform turning and slotting tasks on Commutators in the Hi bay.
  • Machine and tape grooves in glass-bound Commutators.
  • Process shrink ring commutators, including mica application, shrink ring installation, and armature assembly.
  • Work with precision to meet close tolerances and finish specifications, demonstrating skill and knowledge of machining techniques.
  • Utilize measuring tools such as micrometers, Vernier's, scales, protractors, calipers, surface gauges, dial bore gauges, and dial indicators to set up machines and ensure part conformity.
  • Assist in training as needed.
  • Other related duties may be assigned.

Qualifications: To excel in this role, candidates must effectively perform each essential duty. The following qualifications are necessary:

  • Education: An Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts like fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Capability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Certificates: Forklift operation certification is beneficial and will be licensed according to OSHA requirements.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands of this position include the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs with the aid of lifting devices. The employee must frequently stand, use hands for handling, reach with arms, and communicate effectively. Occasional walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling may be required. Specific vision abilities needed include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are typical for this role. Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and loud noise levels. Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat may occur.

Additional Responsibilities: Responsibilities include detecting quantity discrepancies, defective materials, and unusual conditions, reporting them to supervision. Employees will complete necessary data transactions, perform equipment maintenance, and maintain a clean work area. A working knowledge of all job-related Quality Management System procedures is required.

Compensation and Benefits: Electric Materials offers competitive compensation, including 2 weeks of paid vacation after 6 months of employment, 11 paid holidays (including one personal holiday), 16 hours of personal paid time, health, vision, and dental insurance, company-paid life insurance, short and long-term disability, 401k, and profit sharing.
