About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our Denver Dams Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conceptual to detailed design of water dams, retarding basins, and service basins. You will also perform as Capture Manager for pre-positioning and preparing proposals, inspection, investigation, and condition assessment of existing dams, including review and surveillance of monitoring data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptual to detailed design of water dams, retarding basins, and service basins
  • Perform as Capture Manager for pre-positioning and preparing proposals
  • Inspection, investigation, and condition assessment of existing dams, including review and surveillance of monitoring data
  • Comprehensive Safety Reviews and FERC Part 12D Inspections of existing Dams and Hydropower
  • Perform Alternatives Analyses, Feasibility Studies, and Detailed Designs with strong knowledge of design drawings and technical specifications
  • Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs and applications
  • Conduct potential failure mode analyses and risk analyses for water storage and hydropower dams, including identifying and developing potential failure modes, and serving as Independent Consultant or Facilitator in risk analysis workshops
  • Client liaison and experience with technical review boards
  • Project management of multidisciplinary teams and the engagement of AECOM's operations/finance teams
  • Mentoring and technical development of junior staff, supporting them to achieve technical success
  • Collaborate with technical leads in our Mining Department and with Dams staff in Oakland, CA

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Civil/Structural Engineering + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Due to the nature of this work, a valid U.S Driver's License is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years or more of relevant experience
  • Active participation in ASDSO and/or USSD (or ICOLD)
  • PMP
  • Strong PM skills, ability to deliver multidisciplinary projects on schedule at the as-sold margin
  • Ability to effectively mentor Deputy PMs
  • Experience working on risk analysis projects (PFMA, SQRA/L2RA)
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Business development for new and existing clients, prepare engineering services proposals, cost estimates, and schedules
  • Must be a resourceful, highly organized professional with attention to people
  • Strong commitment to ensuring safe project execution
