Medical Imaging Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Imaging Specialist to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our radiology department, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Job Summary:The Medical Imaging Specialist will be responsible for taking x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes. You will also provide support for the imaging department, performing standard laboratory tasks according to procedures. This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Explains procedures to patients to ensure understanding and provides appropriate educational material.
- Transports patients to and from clinical areas, verifies patient identity, and assists technologists with preparing patients for radiology exams.
- Films, delivers, and retrieves patient reports and charts, matches films to folders, and delivers reports to patient units/physicians.
- Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines, preventing unnecessary radiation exposure to patients.
- Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted.
- Ensures prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS, including correct lead markers and patient data/history.
- Maintains a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, laboratory work area, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area, and other areas.
- May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT Technologist is not on site.
- Collections, labels, processes, and preserves blood, urine, and other specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
- Enters, accesses, and executes lab orders in the appropriate laboratory and electronic medical record system.
- May perform phlebotomy and/or waived testing.
- Completion of a radiology certification program.
