The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced EHS Specialist and Regulatory Compliance Lead to join our team at Avantor, supporting the implementation of EHS programs within our chemical manufacturing site in Phillipsburg, NJ.

In this role, you will provide leadership, technical expertise, and regulatory knowledge to administer and support compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, policies, and permits. You will also develop and drive programs to continuously improve employee safety to world-class standards, aligning with corporate objectives and executing EHS-related initiatives.

This is a full-time onsite position in Phillipsburg, NJ, offering a competitive salary between $120,000-$150,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight and support of EHSS&S professionals at the site
  • Coordinate performance management with the Sr. Regional Manager, Environment, Health, Safety, Security & Sustainability
  • Develop and implement EHS software systems necessary to support compliance activities and tracking/reporting of EHS performance metrics and trends
  • Serve as a resource for EHS training requirements and ensure training information is up-to-date and meets regulatory requirements
  • Maintain knowledge of and analyze impacts of EHS laws/standards/regulatory initiatives and take appropriate actions

You will work closely with plant engineering, operations, and external resources to effectively identify and manage loss prevention issues, ensuring EHS considerations are integrated into capital project design and execution, and implementing contractor management programs to minimize hazards.

A minimum of 6 years' experience in EHS or related fields, including 3+ years of leadership experience, is required. Experience in chemical manufacturing and Process Safety Management (PSM) is highly preferred. Strong computer application skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
