Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technician to join our team at St. Josephs Hospital - Baycare Health System. As a Histology Technician, you will be responsible for preparing tissue samples for examination and diagnosis.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare tissue samples for examination and diagnosis using formalin, frozen section/tissues grossing/fixation, and automated/manual microtome.
  • Cut tissue sections using microtome and cryostat.
  • Perform staining procedures, including Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E), Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS), and IHC staining.
  • Embed and microtomy of frozen sections.
  • Operate Roche Ventana Ultra and Benchmark Special Stainer equipment.
  • Work in an outpatient and inpatient lab setting.
  • Preferred experience with Cerner EMR.
Requirements
  • 2 years of experience in histology laboratory work.
  • Formalin, frozen section/tissues grossing/fixation experience required.
  • Automated/manual microtome, cuts tissue sections using microtome and cryostat experience required.
  • Staining experience required.
  • Microtomy of frozen sections embedding/microtomy experience preferred.
  • Special requirements: Roche Ventana Ultra, Benchmark Special Stainer equipment experience.
  • Cerner EMR preferred.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position working 5x8s, 22:30-07:00. Weekend requirements and on-call requirements will be discussed in the interview. Floating requirements to sister facilities are not required. Open to accommodating block schedule. Locals are accepted.
