This position supports the day-to-day operations of the DoIT-NSB data network and associated services. It involves organizing, installing, and supporting internal and external network systems, including LANs, WANs, and ensuring communication between state agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage large/complex network installations, including requesting information, evaluating proposals, recommending solutions, overseeing work of others, verifying correct installation, and coordinating with other departments.
  • Plan, design, maintain, and implement network architecture, access, security, and services.
  • Initiate network projects, including developing and documenting technical network designs and project plans, and procuring equipment and supplies.
  • Monitor network for stability and proper configuration.

Requirements:

  • Experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting routers and switches.
  • Experience working with Cisco routers and switches.
  • Experience related to and troubleshooting IP networking and routing.
  • Experience working with BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) and OSPF (Open Shortest Path First).
  • CCNA or CCNP certification.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree.
  • Two years of experience in network administration.

Work Environment:

  • Office setting with exposure to VDT and extensive phone and personal computer usage.
  • Must carry a state-issued cell phone and operate a motor vehicle.
