Overview:
Julie Billiart Schools is dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for K-8 students facing learning and social challenges. We are a network of Catholic, non-public institutions that honor diverse faith traditions and cater to students with unique educational needs.
Role Summary:
The Creative Arts Therapist will play a vital role in enhancing the educational experience of elementary students by offering individual and group therapy sessions through art. This position requires collaboration with educators and specialists to support the holistic development of each child.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and implement a therapeutic arts program tailored to meet the individual needs of students.
2. Establish clear learning objectives for all activities.
3. Select and utilize diverse instructional resources to accommodate various learning styles.
4. Provide guidance and supervision to students in the use of art materials and tools.
5. Employ technology effectively to enhance art instruction and activities.
6. Monitor and document student progress and development.
7. Collaborate with Intervention Specialists and other staff to adopt a comprehensive approach to student learning.
8. Maintain discipline in alignment with school policies.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Experience working with children with special educational needs is preferred.
- Recent graduates with relevant experience in educational settings will be considered.
Required Credentials:
- Provisional Registered Art Therapist (ATR-Provisional)
- Registered Art Therapist (ATR)
- Board Certified Art Therapist (ATBC)
