**Job Summary**

The Firefighter/EMT is a critical member of our emergency response team at Chenega Corporation. As a Firefighter/EMT, you will be responsible for performing fire suppression and rescue activities, working closely with our team to save lives and protect property.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Respond to emergency situations, including fires, vehicle accidents, and hazardous materials incidents.
  • Operate fire apparatus, equipment, and vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform rescue techniques, including extrication and patient care.
  • Participate in training exercises and drills to maintain and improve skills.
  • Conduct fire safety inspections and provide education to the public on fire prevention and safety.
  • Collaborate with other emergency responders, including police and medical personnel.
  • Maintain equipment, apparatus, and facilities in a state of readiness.
  • Participate in certification training classes and maintain required certifications.

**Requirements**

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must meet all standards as required by Statement of Work.
  • Must possess a DOD/IFSAC, Pro Board, or State Firefighter I and II certifications.
  • Must possess a State of Virginia Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) License.
  • Must possess technical rescue certifications to the Awareness Level for Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Vehicle and Machinery Rescue, Trench Rescue, and Structural Collapse Rescue, and Hazardous Materials certification to the Operations Level within one year of hire date.
  • Must possess a valid American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED) certification card.
  • Must have successfully completed the latest editions of the FEMA NIMS courses IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800.
  • Must possess an Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course Certificate.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license that is deemed acceptable by the Wallops Flight Facility.
  • Must speak, read, write, and understand the English language, apply written rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training material.
  • Have no record or history of illegal drug use, sale, possession, or manufacture.
  • Have no felony convictions and no convictions that reflect on the individual's reliability.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain NASA Physical Certifications.
  • Must be able to successfully pass all required Psychological examinations.
  • Must be able to meet drug testing and alcohol – free workforce requirements to include random drug and/or alcohol testing.

**Physical Demands**

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 170 pounds or more.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

**Work Environment**

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
  • The employee will be required to adjust to a controlled environment during normal daily activities to the extremely hot and possibly cold environments associated with firefighting duties at a moment's notice.
  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions.
  • Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
