This position involves 12-hour shifts in a metropolitan area, with additional rural station opportunities available on 24-hour shifts in blocks of 2 shifts (48 hours at a time).

The Bakersfield Metro area is recognized for its high homeownership rates among younger residents. Hall Ambulance provides a work schedule that promotes a healthy work-life balance, requiring only seven 12-hour shifts every two weeks. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • National or State Paramedic License.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Minimum age of 20 years upon starting work.
  • Capability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Commitment to serving patients with compassion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Respond to medical emergencies within the community. Evaluate illnesses and injuries, providing basic to advanced emergency care. Administer medical treatment to patients and manage their conditions during transport. Prepare patients for ambulance transport to medical facilities. Mentor and guide EMTs in applying appropriate EMS techniques. Operate emergency vehicles and equipment to ensure effective patient care and transport. Complete patient documentation and transfer information to healthcare providers. Deliver compassionate care to patients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Punctuality and adherence to scheduled shifts to meet company and EMS standards.
  • Administer first-aid and life-support care to patients in pre-hospital settings.
  • Assess the nature and severity of illnesses or injuries to prioritize medical treatment.
  • Perform emergency diagnostic and treatment procedures as per State EMS Scope of Practice.
  • Utilize equipment such as EKGs and defibrillators in advanced life-support scenarios.
  • Document and report patient conditions, treatments, and responses to care.
  • Coordinate patient care with other emergency medical personnel and first responders.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and treatment centers regarding emergency situations.
  • Prepare patients for transport, ensuring compliance with medical transport regulations.
  • Inspect emergency medical equipment and vehicles for safety and compliance.
  • Complete and transfer patient care records as per established protocols.
  • Provide comfort and reassurance to patients and their families.
  • Safely operate emergency vehicles in accordance with state laws and company protocols.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

The individual in this role must meet the following educational qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an accredited Paramedic training program.
  • Valid & current State of California Certification as an EMT-P in good standing.
  • Valid & current Class C California Driver License.
  • Insurable under Hall Ambulance Service, Inc. driver's insurance policy.
  • Valid & current Ambulance Driver Certification and Medical Examiners Certificate.
  • Valid & current CPR certification.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent physical activities including pushing, pulling, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and climbing.

SALARY RANGE: $65,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on experience.
