This role supports the Maternal Fetal Medicine department at UMass Memorial Health, providing exceptional patient care and administrative assistance. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and human relations skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Greet patients and visitors, verifying demographic and insurance information.
- Collect co-payments and maintain accurate records.
- Assess patient needs, referring to appropriate resources as needed.
- Schedule appointments and arrange tests and procedures according to established guidelines.
- Prioritize appointments to ensure efficient utilization of clinical staff and resources.
- Collaborate with insurers to obtain prior-authorizations and follow guidelines for pre-authorization and pre-certification.
- Verify eligibility for procedures and tests, following up to correct discrepancies.
- Facilitate patient prescription renewal matters, as directed by clinicians.
- Prepare patient information for clinicians and submit electronic records.
- Review and audit billing discrepancy reports, researching errors for resolution.
- Maintain accurate and timely records, logs, charges, files, and other related information.
- Perform administrative and clerical duties, such as data entry and message relay.
- High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to use specialized applications software and computer systems.
- Excellent communication and human relations skills.
This role primarily supports the Maternal Fetal Medicine department, with occasional coverage of other divisions within the Department of OBGYN. The position will rotate evening coverage on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
