About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Reliability Engineer - Electrical to join our team at Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Companies. As a key member of our Hardware Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability of our complex medical robotics systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reliability Strategy Implementation: Plan and coordinate design and testing activities to develop and deliver reliable systems.
  • Design for Reliability: Champion the implementation of Design for Reliability principles for electrical and electronic components of complex medical robotics systems.
  • Failure Analysis: Coordinate failure analysis and perform root-cause analysis on electromechanical equipment with multifunctional teams.
  • Reliability Test Protocols: Design, document, and release PCBA reliability test protocols and author reports.
  • Quality System Documentation: Develop quality system documentation to improve company-wide reliability processes.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field is required.
Experience and Skills
  • Industry Experience: 8+ years of demonstrated industry experience in improving the reliability of electrical and electronic equipment in all phases of the product development lifecycle.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read schematics and have a basic understanding of printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) designs. Proven record of applying Design for Reliability principles, such as de-rating techniques to improve the reliability of electrical and electronic assemblies. Working knowledge of reliability test methods for electrical and electronic equipment (examples, 4-corner, HALT, HAST, etc.). Ability to produce high-quality documentation that is clearly understandable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Reliability Tools: Working knowledge of ReliaSoft reliability tools, Minitab statistical software, Telcordia prediction, PCA/PCBA stress simulations is an asset.
  • Industry Experience: Demonstrated experience with reliability testing and failure investigation of complex electromechanical systems in the Medical Device industry is a plus.
