Position Overview:
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks on U.S. Naval ships within shipyards and drydocks. This role requires adaptability to different environmental conditions, including high heat and cold temperatures.

Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent will engage in general upkeep and repair of equipment and facilities, necessitating practical skills and knowledge in various trades, including:
  • Painting
  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing
  • Masonry
  • Electrical work

Specific Duties Include:
  • Replacing electrical components such as receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Utilizing plaster or compound to repair minor damage to walls and ceilings.
  • Repairing or replacing plumbing fixtures, including sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Painting structures and equipment as needed.
  • Restoring or replacing concrete surfaces, steps, and sidewalks.
  • Repairing or replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Hanging doors and installing locks.
  • Replacing broken window panes.
  • Conducting general maintenance on machinery and equipment.

Exclusions:
The following roles are not included in this position:
  • Craft workers in formal apprenticeship or progression programs.
  • Skilled craft workers demonstrating proficiency in specific trades.
  • Workers performing basic maintenance tasks that do not require practical skills.

Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED is required.

Experience:
A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is necessary.

Location:
This position is based on customer sites.

Citizenship:
U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation and Benefits:
The anticipated hourly wage for this role is approximately $31.63, subject to variation based on experience and location. Additional information regarding benefits and the total rewards program is available.
