Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pit Truck Operator to join our team at Permian Basin Materials LLC. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading, unloading, and movement of sand and gravel materials in our plant/yard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate pit trucks and water trucks to transport materials to designated sites in the yard.
  • Identify and report any safety concerns or issues related to dump sites, maneuverability, and equipment maintenance.
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of site aggregate materials to ensure accurate and efficient storage and handling.
  • Communicate effectively with management and team members through radio communication.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on assigned equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Clean and maintain the interior and exterior of equipment as scheduled or instructed.
  • Perform other duties as required or directed by management.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist in servicing plants, including greasing bearings and changing screens on crushers.
  • Shovel dry and/or wet material as needed, sometimes for extended periods.
  • Assist mechanics with equipment repairs, including changing oil, hoses, and conveyor belts.
  • Empty trash cans into dumpsters and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

  • Treat customers, co-workers, and inspectors with courtesy and respect at all times.
  • Follow company, OSHA, and MSHA safety procedures and promote a safety-first culture.
  • Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental, and other Company policies and procedures.
  • Wear protective clothing and equipment as necessary, including hearing protection, dust masks, safety glasses, boots, and harnesses.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Candidate must be drug-free.
  • Position requires moderately strenuous physical work.
  • Must be able to:
  • Lift and carry up to 40 pounds from floor to 3' - 6' occasionally.
  • Push or pull up to a maximum force of 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Climb in and out of equipment 50+ times per day.
  • Climb up and down ladders occasionally.
  • Sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Use hands, fingers, and feet to operate and/or service heavy construction machinery and concrete mixers and haul trucks.
  • Travel safely while walking and while operating heavy machinery and/or trucks over uneven terrain, roads, and pavement.
  • See, hear, and respond to verbal, visual, and written instructions and to moving heavy construction machinery.
  • Wear proper protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, high visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, and gloves.
  • Observe all company Safety policies on company premises and while operating heavy construction machinery.
  • Continually work in extreme hot and cold weather conditions.
  • Work safely in wet, muddy, and slippery conditions occasionally.
  • Environment will vary from outdoors with varying noise levels and vibrations associated with construction equipment, and exposure to building materials, dust, and dirt at operating sites to a normal office environment.
