Responsibilities:
- Performs clinical laboratory tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
- Thoroughly understands theory, principle, and practice of medical laboratory techniques.
- Skilled in using, calibrating, and basic maintenance of standard equipment used in medical laboratory practice.
- Works under general supervision to ensure accurate and timely results.
Requirements:
- Required: Formal education equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of specialized field.
- Preferred: High School Diploma.
- Less than 1 year: Interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral required in order to effectively interact with hospital personnel and outside contacts.
- MLS - Certified Medical Lab Scientist.
- ASCP MLT - Medical Lab Technician.
- MLT - Certified Medical Lab Technician.
Additional Requirements:
- Required to pass certification exam within 1 year of hire.
- MLT (ASCP or AMT) or MT (ASCP or AMT) or MLS (ASCP).
