Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist Specimen Processor to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing various laboratory functions to support patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct phlebotomy procedures to collect blood samples from patients
  • Process and receive specimens, ensuring accurate and timely handling
  • Accession specimens and distribute them to the appropriate laboratory departments
  • Perform and result specific test procedures, maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; completion of phlebotomy course preferred
  • Current license or trainee license in the state of practice (if applicable)
  • Strong computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Knowledge of venipuncture procedures and strong interpersonal skills
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to sit for prolonged periods, travel throughout and between facilities, and work a flexible schedule. You will also be exposed to blood, body fluids, and tissue, with potential occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
