POSITION SUMMARY:
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for delivering radiation treatment to patients under the supervision of a radiation oncologist. This role requires a commitment to patient care and safety, ensuring that all procedures are conducted in accordance with established protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Administer radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by the physician.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide support and education to patients and their families regarding treatment processes.
  • Adhere to safety standards and infection control procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High school diploma required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy is preferred. Membership in relevant oncology organizations and certification in radiation therapy is advantageous.

Experience:
Previous experience in an oncology setting is preferred. A minimum of three to six months of practical experience is necessary to effectively understand departmental policies and standards.

Licensure:
Must hold a valid license as a Radiation Therapist in the State of Indiana.

SKILLS:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with patients and healthcare professionals. The ability to provide age-appropriate care for patients across all age groups is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Exposure to infectious diseases is possible through patient contact. Adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.
