Field Support Engineer

Position Overview:

The Field Support Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of electrical systems in various environments. This role involves a combination of technical expertise and customer interaction to deliver high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough failure analysis and root cause investigations to enhance component reliability.
  • Oversee on-site commissioning of advanced systems and components for both domestic and international clients.
  • Provide training to customers on operational and maintenance procedures tailored to specific system types.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams during the factory testing of new units.
  • Update and modify documentation related to customer units, including schematics and user manuals, to accurately reflect installation conditions.
  • Develop and implement specialized maintenance procedures for field installations.
  • Proactively monitor customer units to identify potential issues and devise solutions before they impact operations.
  • Engage with customer representatives to address remote troubleshooting needs, and travel to customer sites as necessary to ensure system reliability.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed service reports following each site visit, including monthly summaries for each unit and weekly updates for management.
  • Anticipate travel requirements as part of the role.
  • Analyze trends within the field service database to enhance service delivery.
  • Be available to carry a Field Service pager as required.
  • Coordinate startup and commissioning activities to meet product delivery timelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Technical or Engineering fields, with a preference for Electrical Engineering.
  • 1-3 years of experience in electrical power, electronics, or communication systems environments.
  • Relevant experience may substitute for educational qualifications.

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • Solid understanding of electrical power circuits and power electronics.
  • Ability to interpret schematics effectively.
  • Proficient in computer applications within a Windows environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with NEC and IEEE standards for electrical installations.
  • Completion of medium voltage safety training is required prior to field assignments.
  • Physical capability to perform medium to heavy work, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
