Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Gas Cathodic Protection Specialist to join our team at Watertown Municipal Utilities. As a key member of our utility services team, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, constructing, and repairing the cathodic protection system, performing leak surveys, and maintaining detailed records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain the cathodic protection system to ensure the integrity of the gas distribution network.
  • Perform leak surveys, including patrols, atmospheric inspections, grading, and classification of leaks.
  • Conduct construction inspections of third-party contractors on the natural gas system.
  • Maintain detailed records of leaks found and repaired, in accordance with CFR 49 Part 192.
  • Work independently, with a supervisor evaluating performance through written logs and leak reports.
Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of municipal gas distribution systems and associated equipment.
  • NACE/AMPP certification preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
