Position Summary
The Automation Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting site operations, engineering, and program management. This encompasses the coordination of planning, resource allocation, progress tracking, and troubleshooting for technical initiatives. The focus is primarily on automated assembly machinery while ensuring compliance with the relevant technical, quality, and safety standards.Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development and evaluation of assembly automation systems for medical device production.
  • Create requirement specifications, system designs, and machine layouts.
  • Provide engineering supervision for equipment installation and transition to production, adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
  • Facilitate interdepartmental communication through meetings and status updates.
  • Offer technical guidance for validation and process testing, including hands-on equipment validation.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives on existing manufacturing equipment to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Act as the technical liaison with clients as designated.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot issues, implement upgrades, and develop processes.
Additional Duties
  • Conduct engineering analyses and design testing protocols as required.
  • Engage in procurement, cost management, and budget forecasting for equipment projects.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintenance guidelines, and training materials for equipment.
  • Perform reliability engineering within the manufacturing environment as necessary.
  • Contribute to process development, root cause analysis, and systematic problem-solving efforts.
  • Support all company safety and quality standards.
  • May undertake other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge Requirements:
  • Comprehensive understanding of engineering principles, tools, and methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and control system diagrams for testing and troubleshooting automated equipment.
  • Familiarity with cGMP principles, including validation and documentation standards.
  • Awareness of equipment and facility safety regulations relevant to the engineering role.
  • General knowledge of control systems and assembly processes in relation to manufacturing and equipment engineering.
  • Proficiency in 2-Dimensional Computer Aided Drawing (2D-CAD) software is preferred.
  • Understanding of basic statistical analysis tools and techniques.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and email communication.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Experience leading projects for new products, processes, or equipment implementation in a highly regulated manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting and programming control systems, including PLCs, is preferred.
  • Experience in technical writing, including protocols and procedures, is preferred.
