Payroll Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Analyst to join our team at the Madison Metropolitan School District. As a Payroll Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing, as well as providing exceptional customer service to our employees.
Key Responsibilities- Support the payroll team with all activities involved in the payroll cycle, including gathering and reconciling timekeeping data, processing employee payroll changes, and reviewing and auditing periodic payroll reports.
- Analyze and validate payroll processing results using technology, reports, and macros.
- Perform audits of data prior to payroll completion and follow all established controls.
- Assist in ensuring accurate and timely production of District payroll functions.
- Participate in the review, verification, auditing, and processing of payroll forms, records, and documents.
- Compile, analyze, and provide data to support internal and external audits.
- Apply documented rules, past practices, or instructions on an independent level.
- Develop and ensure internal controls and processes are being followed.
- Effectively identify problems as they occur and take appropriate steps to resolve.
- Experience troubleshooting and solving problems, including experience reverse engineering problems to find a resolution when there are no clear instructions/guidance.
- Experience providing excellent customer service communication strategies and utilizing appropriate interpersonal and communication skills.
- Extensive experience working with large datasets using Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, user databases, HRIS systems, or similar systems.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and supporting others to accomplish payroll and organizational priorities.
