Job Overview:

Senior Direct Support Coordinator -
This role encompasses overseeing and managing residential services across various facilities during the night shift.

The Night Supervisor is tasked with the organization and oversight of residential support for designated homes during nighttime hours.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized care; supervise staff; coordinate training and development; maintain a supportive living environment; manage operational tasks; monitor program effectiveness; and foster relationships with support services. The Night Supervisor holds authority over all Direct Support Professional staff assigned to the respective homes. Additionally, this role involves responding to exceptional incidents and special inquiries as required. The supervisor will ensure adequate staff coverage and engage in direct care duties as necessary. Flexibility in hours and shifts is essential to maintain effective operations. The Night Supervisor is accountable to the Unit Director and must achieve certification in Safe Use of Restraint (SUR) and CPR within the first year of employment.

This position may involve driving a state-owned vehicle.

Essential Functions:

Regular attendance is expected, with potential requirements for specific shift schedules, rotating shifts, extended hours, and/or overtime in accordance with agency policies. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

May participate in an on-call rotation to address operational needs of the facility.
Ensures a high standard of residential care services.
Maintains a safe, clean, and homelike environment.

Responsible for timely reporting of unusual incidents, including emergencies, injuries, and other critical situations.

Ensures that operational tasks are fulfilled to support effective service delivery.
Supervises home staff to optimize resource utilization.
Completes necessary documentation to meet facility standards.
Promotes effective communication between night shift personnel and management, as well as with other shifts and service areas.

Ensures individuals participate in scheduled programs and activities to enhance their skills and independence.

Oversees the fulfillment of physical and nutritional management program requirements by assigned staff.
Assists in the transportation of individuals for scheduled activities and in emergencies, as required.

Additional responsibilities may include participating in disaster response and recovery efforts or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation, which may necessitate alternate shift assignments.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of Physical Management Programming, Behavior Therapy training, and Safe Use of Restraint (SUR) techniques.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize supervisory responsibilities, motivate, and guide Direct Support Professional staff.
  • Capability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Sound judgment in managing unusual incidents.
  • Familiarity with Positive Performance Program and facility operational procedures.
  • Ability to train staff in relevant job-related areas.
  • General knowledge of ICF/IID standards.
  • Physical capability to perform direct care duties and conduct regular rounds across a wide area.
  • Physical ability to execute Safe Use of Restraint (SUR) and CPR.
