Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals Rehabilitation Hospital. As a Lead Nurse, you will play a critical role in ensuring the provision of safe and effective patient care, while also providing leadership and guidance to our nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assure the provision of safe and effective patient care after hours, on weekends, and on holidays or when the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is not in the building.
  • Assess all departments to ensure continuity of care and report pertinent information to management and administration.
  • Effectively communicate unusual occurrences or complaints for follow-up and intervene immediately when needed.
  • Ensure the nursing department staff performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
  • Ensure occurrence of appropriate documentation, including documentation of medical necessity, by staff in medical records; monitor completion and revisions to the Interdisciplinary Care Plan.
  • Assist in reviewing and evaluating risk and quality indicators, patient satisfaction results, and outcomes to continually improve performance and outcomes; communicate this information to the nursing department.
  • Assure education and training is provided to nursing staff on Quality Indicators (QIs); assure timely and accurate QI assessments and scoring are performed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program with current licensure in the state.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support required.
  • Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in rehabilitative or acute care setting and/or demonstrates leadership ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate, and direct activities of clinical personnel; effective oral and written communication skills, in English with additional languages preferred; proficiency in basic computer skills required.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
