Electrical Technician Job Description

Smithfield Foods is seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to join our Maintenance team in Sioux Falls, SD. As an Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in our food processing and packaging facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment, including programmable logic controllers, human-machine interfaces, and associated programming languages.
  • Work with electrical electronics and/or electrical experience to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and equipment.
  • Conduct routine audits and equipment inspections to ensure compliance with food safety and good manufacturing practices.
  • Collaborate with operations to plan and conduct equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Respond to unplanned/emergency work requests in a timely and effective manner.
Requirements:
  • Journeyman Electrical License or completion of a 2-year degree in electrical, electronics, or a related field.
  • Two years of industrial maintenance experience, including comprehensive knowledge in three or more of the following areas: mechanical systems, predictive maintenance, maintenance planning, site utilities, system analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to work independently.
