Lead Housekeeper Position

About the Position:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Housekeeper to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Lead Housekeeper, you will be responsible for performing general custodial services, supervising a team of housekeepers, and ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean common areas, classrooms, hallways, and stairwells, and move and spot clean furniture, shampoo carpets, strip, wax, and buff floors.
  • Clean offices and classrooms, including desks, dusting, window ledges, window glass, furniture, doors, vacuuming, whiteboards, and emptying trash.
  • Clean and restock bathrooms, remove trash daily, and report any safety concerns to the supervisor.
  • Communicate with the supervisor regarding the need for additional cleaning supplies and maintain a positive working relationship with department members and the campus community.
  • Effectively perform in a service environment, follow all State, University, and departmental policies, procedures, and practices, and perform all duties with minimal supervision and a high level of quality.

Requirements:

  • Related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
  • Knowledge of cleaning terms and safety procedures related to hazardous cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to read, understand, and abide by all safety policies and procedures, read and follow cleaning instructions and schedules, practice effective oral communication skills, work independently, and remain calm during stress periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in the use of mechanical cleaning equipment.
