In this position, successful applicants will be responsible for the accurate processing and management of specimens intended for analysis. Key responsibilities include receiving, categorizing, and tagging specimens in accordance with established protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the precision of client and specimen information.
- Maintain a keen focus on the accuracy of patient data and requisitions.
- Perform aliquoting and labeling of specimens.
- Execute centrifugation of samples.
- Respond to phone inquiries promptly, adhering to company standards for communication.
- Monitor the work environment for potential issues and safety hazards.
- Be prepared to assist colleagues with questions and directives.
- Consistently verify highly detailed information, ensuring accuracy in data entry and patient identification.
- Receive samples from clients and various Interpath locations.
- Process samples efficiently to meet established turnaround times.
- Preserve specimen integrity from collection to transfer to technical staff.
- Accurately interpret physician orders and diagnoses.
- Package samples for external laboratories.
- Print and distribute necessary reports.
- Adhere to safety protocols and daily task checklists.
- Comply with HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Participate in departmental quality assurance initiatives.
- Evaluate the adequacy of submitted specimens with technical support when necessary.
- Cover shifts at various locations as required to ensure operational continuity.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Skills:
Exceptional attention to detail; Ability to adhere to strict protocols; Strong organizational capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with clinical laboratory operations and specimen management.

Physical Requirements:
This role involves working in a laboratory environment with various automated equipment. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic atmosphere with high staff interaction.
Regular exposure to potentially infectious samples is expected, and appropriate protective gear must be worn.
Physical capabilities include the ability to sit, stand, kneel, bend, and lift up to 30 pounds, as well as the capacity to work extended hours when necessary.
