Plasma Processing Laboratory Technician

OBJECTIVE
The Plasma Processing Laboratory Technician operates under the direct oversight of the Operations Supervisor, ensuring adherence to buyer specifications and maintaining compliance throughout the plasma processing stages. This role is crucial in setting a standard for accuracy and compliance for the team.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Uphold product integrity by ensuring compliance with FDA regulations, state laws, and ABO's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Organize and maintain the storage freezer to ensure efficient product management.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of donor samples and products designated for shipment.
- Assist in managing the workflow within the laboratory, ensuring timely processing of materials.
- Coordinate daily operations in the processing area and assign tasks in collaboration with management.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment, including centrifuges and sealers.
- Monitor technician compliance with established protocols.
- Oversee the disposal of non-compliant units and manage quarantine procedures for unacceptable samples.
- Facilitate the training of new laboratory personnel.
- Set up and maintain instruments for plasma product management and quality control.
- Document maintenance and operational activities as required.
- Manage inventory levels and order supplies as necessary.
- Communicate any operational delays or issues to management.
- Adhere to all company policies and safety regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent (proof required).
- Strong customer service abilities.
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking) with clear handwriting.
- Current CPR certification.
- Computer proficiency for data entry tasks.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Certification as a Trainer is advantageous.
- Minimum six months of experience in plasma processing (requirements may vary based on skills and abilities).
- Willingness to travel for training purposes.
- Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to use hands and fingers for handling objects and tools, as well as the ability to stand, walk, climb, and balance for extended periods. Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The role involves using standard office equipment and may expose the technician to bloodborne pathogens and other conditions typical of a donor center. Personal protective equipment is mandatory, including lab coats, gloves, and protective eyewear. The technician may also work in a walk-in freezer for brief periods.
