Body Fit Plus Inc is seeking a skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team at a correctional facility in Crescent City, California.

Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified Recreational Therapist to provide therapeutic services to patients in a correctional setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with psychiatric, traumatic, and chemically dependent patients, and will be able to utilize advanced knowledge of counseling and therapeutic concepts and methods.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate changes in patient condition to the Director of Recreational Therapy and interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Provide pertinent feedback to the treatment team regarding patient response to therapy, treatment interventions, and therapeutic objectives.
  • Assess psychosocial/leisure and recreation skills development/deficiency in patients.
  • Ensure timely documentation of interventions and ensure interventions are based on the patient's plan of care.
  • Teach coping skills and stress management techniques to patients.
  • Utilize knowledge of group dynamics and therapy to provide effective group processing.
Requirements
  • Twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years rendering direct patient care in a public or private institution.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association.
  • NATIONAL or CA Recreational Therapist Certificate.
  • Valid Photo ID Driver's License or Passport.
