Job Summary

Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team in the Maternal Fetal Medicine department. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services to patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients in the Maternal Fetal Medicine setting
  • Work independently and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to pregnant women
  • Escort patients and families to and from examination rooms
  • Explain exams to patients and families prior to the commencement of the test to ensure cooperation and optimal results
  • Acquire anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician
  • Maintain patient charts and records, and record/process sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to the interpreting physician
  • Create preliminary reports for physician review and signature
  • Review studies with physicians
  • Assist physicians with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling
  • Code services performed
  • Maintain proper operation of ultrasound equipment
  • Recognize equipment malfunctions and take corrective action
  • Maintain laundry for examination rooms
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies
  • Follow accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where applicable
  • Follow and comply with universal precautions and OSHA standards
  • Follow and comply with safety and security training
  • Rotate as needed to cover Sonographer absences
  • Perform related and other assigned duties as directed
Requirements
  • Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Requirements include a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent
  • ARDMS OB/GYN certified or eligible
  • Fetal echo certification or eligible to obtain with 12 months of hire
  • Participates in staff development, in-service workshops, and educational activities
  • Participates in professional development activities and meetings
  • CPR certification required
  • Satisfactory completion of one of the following; at least two (2) years in Allied Health Educational Program and one (1) year on-the-job-training in ultrasonography, or completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program
  • Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)
  • Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements
