Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team at Acro Service Corporation in Johnston, IA 50131 USA. This is a fantastic opportunity to be directly involved in the evolution of the industry.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate or Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, preferably with industry-related experience or equivalent amount of relevant education and experience. Molecular biology experience is desirable, including techniques such as nucleic acid isolation methods, PCR experience, DNA vector construction, and gel electrophoresis.

As a key member of our research team, you will assist with creating, executing, and scoring results supporting research needs, including sampling and data collection under greenhouse/controlled environment conditions, processing samples under sterile lab conditions, measuring, imaging, and analyzing experimental results, coordinating sampling and preparing of samples as needed, executing plant tissue culture work, and assisting with molecular biology tasks.

You will also be responsible for documenting experimental details with ability to analyze data and interpret results, recording pertinent information in proprietary and standard software applications, and working in and maintaining a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating, executing, and scoring results supporting research team needs
  • Execute plant tissue culture work, including aspects of plant transformation, plant propagation, and conducting analytical assays of plant tissue samples as needed
  • Assist with molecular biology tasks, as needed
  • Document experimental details with ability to analyze data and interpret results
  • Record pertinent information in proprietary and standard software applications

Requirements

  • A minimum of an Associate or Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, preferably with industry-related experience or equivalent amount of relevant education and experience
  • Molecular biology experience, including techniques such as nucleic acid isolation methods, PCR experience, DNA vector construction, and gel electrophoresis
  • Plant transformation experience in classroom or industry setting is highly desirable
  • Problem-solving skills are required
  • Attention to detail and ability to stay focused while performing repetitive tasks is required
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills are required
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented person with excellent work ethics and time management

Estimated Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year
