About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate to join our team at BCforward. As a key member of our molecular biology department, you will be responsible for assisting with various research projects, including tissue culture, transformation experiments, and protein expression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with general laboratory operations, including preparing tissue culture media, receiving and tracking materials, and isolating explants from seedling leaves.
  • Conduct transformation experiments, cultivate transformed tissue in specific media, and subculture gel and liquid suspension tissues.
  • Help with imaging tissues using microscopes and scanners, and track experiments using a database.
  • Record data and keep track of process execution.
  • Proactively uphold client core values and compliance with best laboratory practices.

Requirements

  • Laboratory experience and ability to work in a sterile environment required.
  • Maintenance of cultures, plant embryo rescue, and tissue culture environment experience highly desired.
  • Problem identification and solving skills essential.
  • Ability to spot deviations from standard protocols and initiate corrective actions in close interface with peers and supervisors.
  • Detail-oriented tasks and excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheet or other data analysis and tracking software preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biomedical engineering, biology, or similar major preferred.
