About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solar Field Technician to join our team at Sandhills Energy LLC. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing our Solar Photovoltaic (PV) assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe work environment by adhering to company protocols, safety standards, and applicable codes and regulations.
  • Responsible for personal safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Perform QA inspections of completed installations.
  • Perform start-up and commissioning for new PV installations, set parameters, and monitor performance levels.
  • Assist with developing maintenance programs and provide accurate and timely inspection reports.
  • Conduct field service to diagnose and repair commercial/industrial PV systems including electrical, mechanical, and IT components.
  • Strive to ensure proper operations of PV systems.
  • Manage inventory of parts and equipment.
  • Complete non-service-related tasks as assigned by the leadership team.
Requirements
  • Action and results focus with the ability to initiate tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills to evaluate information and propositions.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication skills to deliver information to necessary groups or teams.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of electrical safety and arc flash standards.
  • Demonstrate understanding and ability to follow operating, switching, maintenance, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Working knowledge of industrial or power facility operations and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding electrical schematics and prints.
  • In-depth experience testing and troubleshooting medium voltage and high voltage equipment including circuit breakers and transformers.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving background.
  • Willingness to travel to remote sites and stay on location as needed.
  • Ability to be coached and mentored.
Education and Experience
  • High School or GED, some college preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in electrical troubleshooting (Wind, HVAC, Electrician) with PV experience beneficial.
  • Microsoft (Word and Excel) and a general computer background.
