About the Role:

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Civil Inspector V to oversee the construction of a new tunnel between the Kensico Reservoir and the Catskill/Delaware Ultraviolet Light Disinfection (CDUV) Facility for NYCDEP situated in Westchester County, New York.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine inspections of civil infrastructure to identify defects and potential hazards.
  • Document contract compliance and produce detailed reports.
  • Communicate findings to management and assure quality of the construction.
  • Coordinate with contractors to identify upcoming work and verify compliance with contract documents.
  • Review contract requirements, submittals, shop drawings, and other associated documentation.
  • Communicate daily with the AECOM Resident Engineer and contractor's field team.
  • Track progress of work in the field and monitor contractor's adherence to schedule.
  • Inspect work for conformance with contract documents and identify nonconforming work.
  • Document all work with daily reports, photos, and videos.
  • Track and verify contractor time and material or force account work.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure that the work is performed in compliance with the contract documents.
  • Ensure delivered materials comply with approved submittals.
  • Observe and approve contractor testing and QA/QC activities.
  • Maintain necessary project documentation, including daily, weekly, and monthly reports and logs.
  • Prepare other required field documentation as necessary.
  • Provide input for construction changes and assist with preparation and negotiation of field orders and change orders.
  • Observe implementation of health and safety procedures and practices.
  • Perform other assignments as determined by AECOM Resident Engineer.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma and 8 years of experience in construction inspector roles for heavy site civil infrastructure construction projects.
  • NICET Level IV Certified.
  • ACI Certified.
  • Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade II.
  • OSHA 10-hour Construction Health and Safety Course.
  • Valid US Drivers License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree.
  • NYCDEP 4-hr Scaffolding Training.
  • NYSDEC 4-hr Erosion and Sediment Control Training.
  • NYCDEP BEDC EHS Standards Training (4 Hour).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
