Radiation Therapy Technician Job Description

At VCA Animal Hospitals, we are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapy Technician to join our team. As a Radiation Therapy Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to our patients undergoing radiation therapy.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate activities in the Radiation Oncology Treatment Schedule in conjunction with the radiation oncologist.
Provide professional care to patients undergoing radiation therapy, prepare and maintain the radiation oncology space for all radiation therapy procedures, and assemble the type and quantity of material and special equipment needed for daily procedures and possible emergencies.
Position and CT simulate radiation therapy patients, demonstrating knowledge of standard procedures related to radiation therapy, such as stereotactic treatment delivery, patient setup tolerances, and rationale.
Assist the radiation oncologist during advanced/critical therapy, process and clean all special equipment, and demonstrate general knowledge of physics and radiation biology related to the rationale behind radiation therapy.

Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy Technician program in the United States or Canada.
Proven track record of clinical excellence and therapy abilities.
Ability to follow directions with and without supervision, learn and understand medical terminology and procedures, and show leadership towards veterinary techs, assistants, and volunteers.
Ability to work with computers and other office equipment, spell, alphabetize, and perform basic mathematics.

Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The pay range for this position is $74 to $84 per hour.
