Senior Lifeguard

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lifeguard to join our team at the City of Fairfield, CA. As a Senior Lifeguard, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for our pool patrons, while also providing exceptional customer service and emergency response.

• Conduct continuous surveillance of the pool area to prevent accidents and enforce safety regulations
• Respond quickly to emergency situations and provide first aid as needed
• Provide courteous and professional service to pool patrons, staff, and the public
• Lead and motivate lower-level lifeguards to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
• Perform daily inspections of equipment and facilities to maintain a clean and safe environment

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• A minimum of one full season of experience as a Lifeguard II with the City of Fairfield is required
• Possession of an American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard Training with Administering Emergency Oxygen certification is required
• Possession of a valid ARC Water Safety Instructor Certification is required within 12 months of appointment

Work is typically performed at the Aquatics Complex at Allan Witt Park, but may include other facilities. The position requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk frequently, lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.

The position requires the ability to perform simple and power grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation, as well as verbal and hearing skills to effectively communicate with children and other staff. Visual acuity is also required for observation.

This is the advanced journey level class in which incumbents take the leadership role in customer service and emergency situations, and oversee and motivate the lifeguards on duty.
