ABOUT ST. MARY'S CENTER

St. Mary's Center is a beacon of hope, healing, and justice, dedicated to providing essential services such as nutrition, advocacy, counseling, shelter, and social support to vulnerable populations, including seniors and preschoolers. Our organization operates transitional housing, a senior center, and a preschool, while also working towards the development of permanent supportive housing as part of a holistic community development strategy.

ROLE SUMMARY

We are in search of an inspiring leader who is deeply committed to enhancing the lives of seniors. The Senior Community Engagement Manager will play a crucial role in improving the quality of life, nutritional health, and overall well-being of seniors, particularly those at risk of or experiencing homelessness. This position requires a compassionate and empathetic individual who prioritizes the welfare of staff, volunteers, and participants, fostering a warm and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued.

Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Development and Implementation (35%)
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that supports seniors in aging with dignity.
  • Oversee the direction, coordination, and evaluation of program staff, including Food Manager and Wellness Coordinators.
  • Develop an annual operational plan aligned with the budget provided by the Finance team.
  • Ensure accessibility and cultural competence in all programming.
  • Train staff on program deliverables and keep them informed of policies and best practices.
  • Design activities that promote community-building and reduce social isolation among seniors.
Community Outreach and Collaboration (30%)
  • Align St. Mary's Center programs with community needs, enhancing participant engagement and outcomes.
  • Coordinate events and workshops with partner organizations to strengthen relationships and referral pathways.
  • Represent the organization at community meetings and ensure staff are informed of contract requirements.
  • Maintain communication with seniors to identify needs and connect them with supportive services.
  • Stay informed on trends in gerontology to incorporate best practices into programming.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders to promote the center's mission.
Event Planning and Promotion (25%)
  • Organize events that celebrate cultural and community milestones, enhancing senior engagement.
  • Develop educational initiatives that focus on health and wellness for seniors.
  • Plan outings to educational and recreational sites.
  • Utilize various media channels to promote St. Mary's Center activities.
  • Conduct outreach to local senior housing to raise awareness of services.
Data Management and Compliance (10%)
  • Collaborate with the Data Team to establish documentation systems for program participation and accountability.
  • Adhere to confidentiality and privacy regulations.
  • Work with the Development Team to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
Qualifications
  • 4-6 years of experience in community outreach and engagement, particularly with community or homelessness organizations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with social media and databases.
  • Background in human services, nutrition, and issues relevant to aging and mental health.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Tagalog) are advantageous.
